My journey through life after Northeast started with my marriage to Roxie Pohlman. The Rock. I went into the service and was processed through the MEPS Station by Jim Melson (LNE). Basic training was at Ft. Dix, NJ and AIT was at Ft. Polk, LA. Ended up in the 4th Infantry Division (Mech.) at Ft. Carson, CO. Spent 4-years there as a Grunt, which I am proud to be a member. I was also a TAMMS Clerk, PLL Clerk, and worked as the Battalion Draftsman. I also worked in the S-3 Military Trainining and Operations Shop. Met two guys whom I have maintained contact with for the last 35+years. Trained with the German Airborne and received two Federal Republic of Germany Military Awards. Applied and was accepted by the Old Guard in Ft. Meyer, VA with the Caissons. (The people that pulled JFK's casket with horses), but foolishly turned it down at the last minute. I left the military as a Sergeant and a Service Connected Disability of 60%.

I worked for Brunswick Corporation (Defense Division) as a Design Illustrator and ISCO, Corp. as Mechanical Designer. Both downsized and forced changes. Roxie has worked at the University of Nebraska and is currently with the United States Postal Service (so we are hanging on).

My girls have done very well. Stephanie has multiple Bachelor of Science Degrees in Biological Sciences and Medical Technology. She is married to Wade Frink who is 7' tall and works as a Lead Tech with an office installation company. They have three children: Ashley, Kasey and Beckett.
Cynthia (Cindy) is a Registered Nurse (RN) working at a medical facility near Kansas City, KS. She is married to Mike Sterba who is a Correctional Officer. They have three children and one grandson: Brittni, Chancelor and Maizlyn. Grandson: Tadion
Stacie (Twin A) is completing her Doctorate in New York and should be finished this May. She is married to Dr. Lucas Sabalka (Tom Sabalka's son LNE '73) who has multiple degree drgrees is a varitey of fields. They have three cats.
Sabrina (Twin B) is a Veternarian Technician with Wachal Veteranary Services. She is married to Dennis Haney who is working for a Financial Institution in Omaha. They have two cats.

School Story:

My greatest memory is being part of the State Championship Football Team in 1972. I really appreciated being a part of this great group of individuals who pulled together to accomplish something that most thought was impossible. I also want to thank the Pep Club for their tireless support. We noticed! I have kept in contact with Barry Alvarez since he left and visited him with Bruce Maske, Rob Ketterer and Bob Schulenberg in Madison, WI.

Bruce Maske was the first person to contact me in Lincoln and welcome me to the city. I will always remember that kindness.
Lonnie Ray, Ron Larson, Bruce Maske, Jim Woodside, Ric Dale, and all the rest of the team will always be my brothers. We share a moment in time that links us together forever. Nothing can change that...even death. I want to thank them all for lettting me be part of their team.
For those players interested, I am trying to put together a tribute to that year. I need input from the team and the Pep Squad about their experiences during that time.

Others I would like to thank are: Betty Wagner, Randy Landstrom, Marc Nagle, Mark Bach, and Richard Green.

I went back to school and obtained degrees in the various fields:
Architectural Technology, AA
Building Construction Technology, AA
Computer Technology, AA
Business Information Systems, BA
I spent two years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the College of Architectrure. Bob Schoenleber (LNE) was my TA.
I also have had my real estate License and my Private Detective License.
I spent over 10-years catching shoplifters at various stores in Lincoln, Omaha and Beatrice. That was a fun time. I have records of everyone that I caught and it exceeds 2000 people. I even still have some film of my apprehensions during that time.

Was not aware he had passed, but went to his benefit night to support his fight.  Sad to see him go.  He will be missed.

I took pictures of him at the Northeast tour.  Little did I know it would be the last ones I would take of him.  He will be missed.

I grew up with these guys. They are as important to me as those whom I graduated with at Lincoln Northeast. These would have been part of my graduating class in 1973. Ironically, I lived in a parallel world. My coach would have been an Alvarez in both schools and I would have been a State Champion in Football at both schools. I would have also cherished each member of my team as I do now. Funny how things work out!
